MATERIALS
Recycled leather, in the industry, is called “composite leather”. Leftover pieces of leather from the tannery industry that are trimmings, shavings or scraps are discarded and thrown away, but can be reprocessed into the composite material. This is why recycled leather is composed of 50% vegetable latex and 50% vegetable latex.

In the process of creating this material, the leather fibres are shredded and combined with natural latex (never plastic) creating a paste which is sieved, compacted and calendered for its transformation into recycled leather. The end result is a new product with the softness and uniformity characteristic of real leather.
Natural latex comes from the sap of the rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis). It is a hypoallergenic and breathable material, and, unlike synthetic latex, it is not derived from petroleum, whose main components are butadiene and styrene.
During the production of recycled leather, water is the main means of transporting the fibres, which leads to very high water consumption. Due to the overexploitation of aquifers and the scarcity of water, our suppliers have their own purification system, which allows 80% of the water to be reused.
Our suppliers share our constant interest to contribute to caring for the environment, which is why they have used their own waste to be reincorporated into the manufacturing process.
These processes reduce the impact on the environment with respect to the tannery industry by being free of chrome and other chemicals for the production of recycled leather.
This recycled leather is sustainable compared to plastic and other petroleum-based materials, as well as leather itself. We have the Global Recycled Standard and Oeko Tex Leather Standard certifications from our supplier to guarantee the sustainability process of the product.
